Void Command

A tabletop space combat game inspired by Battlefleet Gothic, designed for fleet-scale engagements in the grimdark far future.

Overview

Void Command is a miniatures-agnostic wargame where players command fleets of capital ships, escorts, and attack craft in tactical void battles. The game uses an alternating activation system with command checks, special orders, and a variety of weapon systems including batteries, lances, torpedoes, and nova cannons.

Rules

The core rules are contained in rules.md (v1.7), covering:

  • Turn structure and alternating activation
  • Movement and special orders
  • Shooting, lances, and ordnance
  • Boarding actions and ramming
  • Critical damage and catastrophic damage
  • Attack craft and carriers
  • Blast markers and morale

Balance Testing

The game has undergone extensive simulated playtesting:

  • balance-matrix-v4.md - Current balance state (all 14 factions within 38-65% win rates)
  • playtesting-battles.md - Detailed battle reports
  • imbalanced-lists.md - Known powerful builds and their counters

Getting Started

  1. Read rules.md for core mechanics
  2. Choose a faction from fleets/
  3. Build a fleet to your agreed points limit (750-1500 pts recommended)
  4. Play!

Version History

  • v1.7 - Current version with alternating activation and natural 2/12 rules
  • Balance patches applied to all fleet lists for competitive play
